Jobs at risk as British Steel seeks government help to avoid administration

British Steel is on the brink of going to the wall, and with it more than £4,000 jobs, unless it can get £30m in emergency government funding.

Ministers have said that talks with the company are ongoing, even though British Steel says it will call in administrators tomorrow.
