Israel’s participation in Eurovision final sparks protests

The consequences of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza have now stretched to the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Israel was the first non-European country to participate in the competition, way back in 1973, and has since won four times.

But its placement in this year’s final has incensed many previously-devoted viewers.
