Iranian asylum seeker explains how he got across English Channel in dinghy

Foreign Affairs Correspondent

An Iranian asylum seeker who made the perilous journey across the English Channel in a small boat just over a fortnight ago has told this programme that the combination of the harsh conditions in France and the poor exchange rate are behind the spike in asylum seekers risking the crossing.

It comes as an Iranian and a British man were arrested in Manchester on suspicion of arranging the “illegal movement of migrants” across the Channel in December.
