Hundreds of officers should have been sacked for breaking the law and misconduct, says Met Police chief

The new Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley came into the job five weeks ago with a promise to restore faith in the UK’s largest police force.

Today, after a damning report found systemic failings in how the Met handles misconduct allegations made by officers and their families – he admitted hundreds of his officers should have been sacked but weren’t.

The findings heap more pressure on a force already in special measures.
