Gun reform bill moves through US Senate – as Supreme Court block law limiting guns in public

Washington Correspondent

For the first time in decades, new gun safety legislation has won support from Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate.

The bill will bring in tougher background checks for people under 21 buying guns and follows the mass shooting in a Texas school last month where an 18-year-old killed 19 students and two teachers.

The bill was attacked by far-right Republican senator Marjorie Taylor Greene, who went on to have a bizarre exchange with our Washington Correspondent Siobhan Kennedy.
