Government plan to ditch some water pollution laws defeated in Lords

In the last few minutes, the government has seen its plan to ditch water pollution laws defeated in the House of Lords.

The amendment to the Levelling Up Bill was designed to encourage housebuilding, but Labour decided to oppose it in dramatic fashion.
