Football child sexual abuse report accuses FA of ‘institutional failings’

North of England Correspondent

An independent review into historic child sex abuse in English football clubs has found that the Football Association did not do enough to keep children safe because of “significant institutional failings”.

The report, which looked into the abuse of children between 1970 and 2005, said the FA acted far too slowly to introduce child protection measures and those involved in the game had not taken the issue seriously.

A warning: some of the details in this report are distressing.
