Family of 12-year-old who died of stroke in hospital reject coroner findings

There were angry scenes in court today after a coroner found that a 12-year-old girl who died of a stroke in hospital would not have been saved if she’d received treatment sooner.

Staff at Manchester Children’s Hospital believed Victoria Olabode was suffering from a ‘painful sickle cell crisis’, despite her family urging them to carry out a brain scan, resulting in a three-day delay.
