Ethiopia military admits carrying out deadly Tigray airstrike as country faces growing risk of famine

Africa Correspondent

Ethiopia’s military has admitted it carried out yesterday’s airstrike on a busy marketplace in the northern Tigray region – which locals say killed dozens of civilians.

But there’s a wider threat to people there – the growing risk of famine. The UN says around 350,000 people in Tigray are suffering from an acute shortage of food, leading to malnutrition and disease – all of it a direct consequence of the conflict.
