Erdoğan’s election win: What does this mean for Turkey?

With the economy on its knees and a devastatingly slow response to a deadly earthquake – many thought President Erdoğan’s time was up.

Last night – he showed them it wasn’t.

But the election result also revealed Turkey is a deeply divided nation – as Erdogan beat his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu with just 52 percent of the vote.

It’s left the disparate opposition facing a rather uncertain future. But last night belonged to the President and his supporters – who flooded onto the streets.
