The UN chief Antonio Gutteres has warned that the entire Middle East is in a moment of “profound crisis” – as he called for an immediate ceasefire, and for Hamas to release the hostages.
Along with Rishi Sunak, Britain’s Foreign Secretary James Cleverley is also meeting leaders in Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, while Germany’s foreign minister is also on her way to the Middle East. But is this flurry of diplomacy having any impact on the ground?
