‘Developed countries should help poorer countries manufacture vaccines’, says Prof Polly Roy

The Delta variant is driving a surge in new infections around the world, including Russia which recorded its highest daily number of deaths since the pandemic began. Infections are rising in Europe too – while a third wave is spreading fast across Africa, where vaccinations are thin on the ground.

The World Health Organisation has warned that the “speed and scale” of this latest outbreak “is like nothing we’ve seen before”.  We spoke to Polly Roy, professor of virology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and asked her about the global vaccine rollout.
