Deaths after flash floods in Majorca

At least nine people are believed to have died in torrential rainstorms on the island of Majorca. Among the dead are two Britons who were thought to have been caught in a flash flood while travelling in a taxi.

Witnesses said that within minutes a rush of water and mud from an overflowing creek had buried cars and torn down trees. The flooding forced schools to close and displaced people to shelter in sports halls. Jessica Savage reports.
