Danny Boyle on his WW1 tribute, Brexit, and being ‘a European’ first

It’s being called an informal, nationwide gesture of remembrance: the film-maker Danny Boyle has urged people to honour the millions of lives lost or changed by the First World War, by etching silhouettes in the sand on beaches around the country to mark the centenary of Armistice Day. The director said beaches were “the perfect place to gather and say a final goodbye”, where communities could come together and remember the sacrifices made.
