Covid pushes unemployment up to 5%

The number of people out of work across the UK has continued to rise. The impact of the Covid crisis on the jobs market has pushed unemployment up to 5%, with more than 800,000 workers dropping off company payrolls since the pandemic began.

But even this doesn’t reveal the true picture, with millions of people still at home on furlough. How many of them will realistically have jobs to go back to?
