Cost of living crisis: The households facing benefit cuts over unexplained overpayments

Millions of the country’s lowest income households are going without food or other essentials because they don’t have enough money to make ends meet – that’s according to debt advice charity StepChange whose data has been shared exclusively with this programme.

As if the cost of living crisis wasn’t enough to cope with – almost half of all Universal Credit claimants – that’s just over two million households – have at least one ongoing deduction from their payments.
