Coronavirus deaths reach 1,000 in US as New York struggles with outbreak

In the US things are continuing to deteriorate in New York and around the country as Covid-19 has claimed over 1,000 lives.

An increase in the unemployment figures to nearly 3.3 million, up tenfold from last week, is another grim indicator of the damage this disease is doing.
