Conservative MP Sir Graham Brady: ‘Deliberately left open’ what alternative arrangements to backstop are

Theresa May has been urging her MPs to back an amendment that she hopes could reopen discussions with the EU about the Northern Irish backstop.

The amendment, tabled by Sir Graham Brady, states that parliament would be willing to support her withdrawal agreement so long as the backstop is replaced with what it calls “alternative arrangements” to avoid a hard border.
