Commission set up to “transform” social housing after Grenfell

“Too many people in positions of power saw social housing tenants less as people with families and more as problems that needed to be managed.” They were the words of the housing minister in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Now a new commission, created by the charity Shelter, has been set up, aimed at “transforming ” social housing and, crucially people’s attitudes to it. The commission includes a cross-section of politicians, experts and tenants themselves. But can it bring about real change?
