Children “ill-equipped” to use social media

Children in theory are still too young to be allowed on most social media, yet we know that most children that age are regularly using platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Today, the Children’s Commissioner has warned that children leaving primary school are “ill-equipped” for the “emotional risks” of social media as they head into secondary school. And she’s called on schools to be made to run compulsory digital literacy lessons.
