Bulk of money from new levy will not be spent on social care in early years

Less than £5.5 billion of the £12 billion raised will actually go towards social care in the first three years.

While many providers welcome any additional support, they say they’re waiting on more detail in the coming days on how it will impact those who depend on social care.

And of course that’s not just the elderly – half of the social care budget is spent on people under 65.
