Bristol bus boycott campaigner Roy Hackett dies aged 93

News Correspondent

In 1963, it was entirely legal for the Bristol Omnibus Company to have a ban on employing Black and Asian drivers and conductors.

But that changed after Jamaican immigrant Roy Hackett helped organise a boycott.

Mr Hackett, who has died aged 93, helped tackle not just racism in one company but started a journey that saw the implementation of the Race Relations Acts of the 1960s.
