Boris Johnson outlines skeleton plans for ‘levelling up’

“Levelling up” is a phrase often used by the prime minister. Today in a speech in Coventry he took the opportunity to lay out the skeleton of what that means.

Funding announcements included a restating of previous commitments to improve high streets in England and £50million to ensure young kids were no more than 15 minutes from a high quality football pitch.

There was also the promise of elected county mayors in future.
