Boris Johnson defends local lockdowns

The Prime Minister has defended the government’s decision to put some areas in local lockdowns while other areas with similar or worse Covid infection rates retain minimum restrictions.

He was speaking after yesterday’s UK figures showed nearly 13,000 new cases.
