Blind pianist who learns largely from memory to play Tokyo festival headlined by Katy Perry

Home Affairs Correspondent

When pianist Rachel Starritt was asked to take part in a concert in Tokyo this weekend headlined by Katy Perry she jumped at the chance.

The event – which is being live streamed globally – will be her biggest audience yet.

Rachel, who is blind after being born prematurely, and also has Asperger syndrome, has a remarkable ability to learn complex pieces by ear and quickly memorise them for performances.
