Biden’s decision to send thousands of cluster munitions to Ukraine divides NATO

President Biden is expected to announce that the United States will provide cluster munitions to Ukraine – widely banned by many countries, and condemned again today by the UN because of the danger unexploded munitions pose to civilians.

The US believes they’ll help Ukraine in its struggle to break through Russia’s front lines, heavily outnumbered in terms of manpower and ammunition.

While Russian forces have been using them for months, to deadly effect, Ukraine is also accused of using them, on their own territory – in at least three occupied locations.
