They said it couldn't be done: 30 days of campaigning by the three main parties, compressed into 60 seconds. But they reckoned without Channel 4 News's Rags Martel, father of the one-minute masterpiece.
Gordon Brown announced the election on the steps of Downing Street on 6 April.
David "Quattro" Cameron immediately responded by telling voters: "You don't have to put up with another five years of Gordon Brown".

The country's political landscape was changed forever with the first-ever televised leaders debates. Gordon Brown and David Cameron found themselves agreeing with the Lib Dems' Nick Clegg - for one debate, at least.
Echoing Gordon Brown's decline from Stalin to Mr Bean, Nick Clegg complained he had been relegated from Churchill to a Nazi within the space of a week.
David Cameron was heckled and had an egg thrown at him - and brushed both of them off.
And ast Thursday Gordon Brown met a Labour-supporting Rochdale woman, referred to her as a bigoted woman - and "bigotgate" was born. By the end of the day the prime minister was a self-confessed "penitent sinner".
But Mr Brown came back fighting with a barnstorming speech to CitizensUK earlier this week.
