Anti-war Putin rival banned from Russia election

Data Correspondent and Presenter

The only anti-war candidate standing in Russia’s Presidential election next month has been barred from taking part.

Boris Nadezhdin’s opposition to the war with Ukraine has proved popular with the Russian public but the Russian electoral commission said today that he had not collected enough valid signatures to support his candidacy.

Yesterday Mr Nadeezhdin told this programme that he was running because he saw no other way to change the country.
