Almost 40% of predicted A-level results downgraded

Their education has already been thrown into chaos by the pandemic – their exams have been cancelled – now thousands of A-level students have been given lower grades than their teachers predicted, leaving many fearing they’ll miss out on their university place.

Boris Johnson insisted the results were “robust” and “dependable” – and said any pupils who felt they could have done better would be able to re-sit. But the government is under growing pressure to order a review.
