1,700 jobs cut in Wales as Ford factory closure confirmed

Home Affairs Correspondent

The carmaker Ford has confirmed that its engine factory in Bridgend will be closed – meaning the loss of 1,700 jobs.

Ford said the South Wales plant will be shut down by Autumn next year, blaming changing customer demand and cost.

The factory has been in service for 40 years and its closure will have a huge impact on the local community.
