Vicky Pryce moves to copen prison in the country

The Sun newspaper said ton Sunday that the ex-wife of former MP Chris Huhne was now a resident of the relaxed East Sussex Park Prison, describe on the Ministry of Justice website as “a pleasant mansion house”.

“It holds both adult and young offender women in open conditions preparing them for resettlement in the community,” the website adds.

Day release

The open jail means the 60-year-old may soon be eligible for day release, while in the meantime enjoying the farms, gardens and catering courses.

Both Pryce and Huhne received eight month sentences for perverting the course of justice after Huhne persuaded Pryce to take his penalty driving points in 2003.

However in 2011 she blew the whistle after the former energy minister left her for lover Carina Trimingham

Marital coercion

Economist Pryce was convicted following a retrial at Southwark Crown Court after a jury disagreed with her defence of marital coercion.

Huhne, 58, pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial last month after denying perverting the course of justice for nearly two years.

Speaking to Channel 4 News he admitted he “lied and lied again”.

Jailing the pair, Mr Justice Sweeney said Huhne had fallen from a “great height” and Pryce from a “considerable height”.

An official spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said they did not comment on individual cases.
