Liam Dutton’s tongue-twister forecast creates internet storm

Channel 4 News weatherman Liam Dutton has taken the internet by storm for his flawless pronunciation of the Welsh village Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in a TV forecast.

The 58-letter long tongue-twister, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, held no fear for Liam, who nailed it on the first take.

His efforts have garnered praise from near and far, with the clip featuring on other news outlets from America’s Today show to Time magazine online.

Liam, who is now making time for TV interviews as well as TV forecasts, is from the Welsh capital Cardiff. Which is considerably easier to pronounce.

Welsh born film star Catherine Zeta Jones commented admiringly on her Facebook page, saying “Amazing job!! Some of those Welsh names are tricky!”

The village’s website says their name is the longest name in Britain and is listed in the Guiness Book of Records, and the meaning refers to the upper part of the village.

And what is the longest name for a town in the world? It’s believed to be Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu in New Zealand…
