Tributes paid to ‘peaceful’ family found dead in Bradford

A married couple and their two teenage daughters are named after their bodies were found at a house in Bradford.

Lad Family

The bodies of Jatindra Lad, 49, mother Duksha Lad, 44, and their daughters Trisha 19, and Nisha were discovered after officers were called to a property in Clayton, at 8.30pm last night, West Yorkshire Police said.

Police said early indications suggest the bodies may have been in the property “for some time”.

A family friend, who does not wish to be named, told Channel 4 News they were a “very nice family”, adding that the family was “quiet”, and “never seemed the type to do anything – a peaceful family”.

The friend, who saw the family last week, described the daughters as being “both very clever”, saying “Jitendra was always with Daksha. They’re always together, he seemed like the protective type”. The community were “very shocked” upon hearing the news, the friend added.

‘Shocked’

The husband and wife both worked as clerical officers for Bradford council.

Councillor David Green, leader of the local authority, said: “Local people are shocked and saddened by the news of this terrible event and our sympathy goes out to the wider family, friends and neighbours of this family.

“The husband and wife of the family… both worked for Bradford Council and councillors and employees are very upset after hearing the dreadful news of their deaths.

“Obviously, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage as the investigation into how it happened is continuing, but we would urge anyone who may have any information about this tragedy to contact the police immediately.”

They said they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry but that a murder investigation had been launched.

Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson said: “This is clearly a significant incident and our investigation will be thorough as we piece together the events that have led to the deaths of a local family.

“We are now undertaking forensic inquiries to establish how these people have died.

“It is an extremely distressing time for the family and friends. We are trying to get as many answers as to what has happened in the property.”

Tributes to the family were paid by friends on Twitter.
