Cameron attacks Brown's spending

With Britain heading into recession, David Cameron drops the Tory party's pledge to match government spending.

When the Conservatives promised to match the Labour government's spending pledges, it was meant to symbolise a more progressive approach to funding public services.

But with the chancellor expected to cut taxes next week, funded by increased borrowing, Cameron has accused him of throwing money at Britain's economic problems, knowing there have to be tax increases later.

The Tory leader has refused to spell out which services would be hit under his plans, however.
