Kennedy clings on

Charles Kennedy says he won't resign despite a rebellion by 25 of 62 Liberal Democrat MPs, who say they're not prepared to serve under him.

He's hanging on by his finger tips, but how much longer can he go on?

The dissenters have requested Mr Kennedy to resign his post within 48 hours but the Scot remains defiant, his spokeswoman again insisted he would not be standing down.

Earlier, in a statement issued by education spokesman Ed Davey, the MPs said they wanted to give Mr Kennedy a "couple of days to reflect on his position" after saying they were not prepared to serve under him if he does not resign.
