Milburn to stand down from Commons
Updated on 27 June 2009
Former Cabinet minister Alan Milburn has announced that he will stand down as an MP at the next general election.
The Darlington MP has been criticised for taking on five other jobs alongside his parliamentary work since leaving the Government.
In a statement, Mr Milburn insisted he had been considering the decision for "a long time" and wanted to pursue "other challenges".
