Schools and airports closed, rail services disrupted and motorists left to slide and slither their way along ungritted minor roads.
It's now officially the longest cold snap parts of Britain have endured for 30 years - and the Met Office is warning that although we've seen the worst of the snow for now it's about to get even colder.
