Stopping the search for Madeleine?

By Channel 4 News

Updated on 01 July 2008

Local reports say the police are giving up their search for Madeleine McCann 14 months after she went missing from a Portuguese holiday apartment.

Citing unnamed sources, reports in Portugal say police there have ended their year long investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The three-year-old had disappeared while on holiday in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007.

One of the reports says detectives have not decided if Madeleine was kidnapped or killed. Her family say they're still awaiting official confirmation about any decision.
