Interview: Alistair Darling
Updated on 02 September 2008
The chancellor speaks about his plans to boost the housing market and his claim that the UK is facing its worst economic crisis in 60 years.
Interviewed by Gary Gibbon, Alistair Darling denies that he regrets a recent newspaper interview in which he predicted the worst economic conditions for the UK economy since the 1940s. And he claims that his relations with Gordon Brown have always been convivial.
Gary Gibbon began his interview by asking the chancellor where he would find the £600m to fund today's announcement of a stamp duty holiday.
