What effect will 35,000 extra troops have on the ground in Afghanistan and what will the Taliban's response be?

The senior Taliban commander Sirajuddin Haqqani, number two to leader Mullah Omar, has told Channel 4 News that sending more troops will mean more losses for Nato countries.

He said his fighters could target soldiers in towns and cities throughout the winter as they now have the support of the Afghan people there.
