Nassim Taleb: the black swan
Updated on 20 August 2009
After appearing as David Cameron's recession guru his climate change and economic comments caused storm. Nassim Nicholas Taleb tells More4 News that he is victim to political spin.
When one of the world's leading economists and original thinkers shared a platform with Conservative leader David Cameron, he might have thought it was an opportunity to raise the level of debate on the global financial meltdown,
Instead, the Tory leader's appearance alongside the provocative academic became the story of the guru's gaffe and Cameron's doomsaying on debt.
Mr Taleb, author of the best selling economics book Black Swan, was described in some newspaper reports as a climate change denier and was reported to have said that market crashes are a good thing.
Mr Taleb has said he is the victim of irresponsible journalism and spinning by Labour and the Liberal Democrats.
