Boyle's Slumdog success

By Nicholas Glass

Updated on 08 December 2008

Nicholas Glass has the first British TV interview with Danny Boyle, the director and writer of Mumbai-based film Slumdog Millionaire.

A low budget British movie filmed in Mumbai with no stars to speak of, and awash with gritty violence and poverty might seem an unlikely contender for the Oscars.

But the latest film from director Danny Boyle is already attracting widespread acclaim.

Slumdog Millionaire is the story of a boy from the slums whose life could change in an instant when he appears on Who wants to be a Millionaire? It opens here next year.
