SYNOPSES
EPISODE ONE: SNAKE SWITCH
Mick Hall is just an ordinary bloke with an extraordinary idea for a movie. How could Sam and his 'Make That Movie' team resist? Packing Mick off to the UAE, the crew head to Sherbornedale and set about turning Mick’s friends, colleagues, and mother into movie stars, trying to bring this incomprehensible film to life.
Having promised Mick a film with real snakes and a detective, things start to fall apart. It turns out that some everyday people don’t make good actors, and snakes have a tendency to bite. With only hours till the premiere, all seems lost - until an extraordinary Spanish gentleman turns up and saves the day. The premiere is a hit, but Sam is already focused on what the next movie idea might be…
EPISODE TWO: SYNTHEZOIDIAN ELDERS
The residents of Smiling Spring care home want to make a movie about horrible online scammers. Sam has such respect for the older generation, so how could he not.
Turning up at the care home they get to work making a sci-fi epic, but the team quickly get distracted, with Pat looking to make her way onto the will of a sophisticated resident called Yardley, while Winnie accidentally gets challenged to a fight by the book club lead Bud, who is mistaken that it’s Winnie's fault all this disturbance. Jess realises she's terrible with old people, as Sebastian’s wise AI girlfriend Superbreast provides sage advice throughout.
Despite all this, the filming is going well until the residents enthusiasm wanes and Sam slowly realises lead resident Sybil has been scamming him all along and only wants to make the film to get a visit from her relatives. With some wise words from Superbreast, Sam finds the strength to finish the film by getting the residents in line. When the ungrateful relatives attempt to leave after the screening, Jess traps them in to make sure the resident gets the quality time they were scamming for.
EPISODE THREE: BOG PROM
School teens Yolanda and Tara want to make a movie for their favourite teacher, Miss Stanthorpe, an expert on the local Bog Body who never attended prom. What if movie magic could let her go to prom with the Bog Man, with help from Sam and his ‘Make That Movie’ team?
At Brodcombe High, Miss Stanthorpe is shocked - not only by the project, but that the girls knew she never went to prom. Perhaps there is more to their request than meets the eye. Head Master Edward backs the movie, eager to be cool, even when catching Tara and Eamon secretly kissing despite Eamon dating Yolanda. Hapless Sebastian spills food on his top, reverting to his childlike self and joining Year 8s.
Heartthrob Eamon wins the Bog Man role, sparking competition between Tara and Yolanda over who plays young Miss Stanthorpe. Sam gives Tara another part, but tensions rise, only eased by a night camping on the bog. When the girls reveal the project was a joke, Pat restores order with a fake jogger scandal. With them back onboard the film can be finished and premiered to the elation of their school mates and bewilderment of Miss Stanthorpe.
EPISODE FOUR: YOOGLET
Gurnsfield United are a bottom league team without a chance, but number one fan Ewin wants to see them win if only on the big screen, but how will they do it? With the help of a magical woodland creature, The Yooglet. How could Sam and the team resist making such an innocent dream come true?
Having embarked on this mission of fantasy on the field of dreams, they quickly realise The Yooglet is an already existing character, a true British classic written by the eccentric BBB Honsworth that Winnie is a super-fan of, which helped him through his divorce. So, after a trip to persuade him by pretending to be British, it seems the film is back on. As filming begins with Sebastian puppeteering, it seems like its back underway until Honsworth's lawyers turn up to shut the show back down as BBB Honsworth isn’t of sound mind. When super fan Winnie tries to get his old Yooglet books signed, the lawyers panic as they realise that some of the unsavoury titles are best left forgotten. So they agree to let the filming happen if it's only ever Ewin that sees it and the old books are left under wraps.
EPISODE FIVE: NAUGHTY NAUGHTY SECRETS
This week loyal chauffeur Kabir wants the Make That Movie team to help celebrate his boss, the hard working financier Mr Eblen Archer. What a heart warming idea, how could Sam not help someone so dedicated to their boss.
But discussing the idea with Kabir it becomes apparent he may not have much of a story to tell, luckily Pat knows the wealthy and powerful always have sordid secrets.
Infiltrating Mr Eblen Archers golf club, the team searches high and low for the depraved activities that no must be going on, but no luck.
As filming proceeds, without a single conspiracy uncovered, Sam is unsure how to prevent the movie from being a total snooze fest.
To top it off, Mr Eblen Archer returns early from a business trip to discover the chaos unleashed by his son and Sebastian’s bender. It is safe to say this one didn’t go to plan as Kabir is let go by Mr Eblen Archer.
EPISODE SIX: THE RESCUE MOST BRAVE
This week is a special episode in response to a national incident. Couple Philip and Robyn Noonan have become trapped in a cave and Sam knows it is vital the team must make a movie to send down to lift the couples’ spirit.
Arriving at the cave Sam quickly gets in the way of cave rescue lead Dina, who is unsure why they are there.
As Sam sets about posing as a member of the barefoot community, the Make That Movie team gets to creating a complex foot based animation. But the pressure gets to Sam and he fires Winnie and then Pat, all whilst winding up Sebastian and Jess with his egomaniacal traits.
Despite the film making interference Dina’s rescue team get a good position to save the trapped couple but Sam further meddles to buy more time to complete the movie.
As a last resort, Dina persuades Jess to trick Sam, it buys her the time she needs to rescue the couple, but lands Sam in hospital when he tries to make up for his selfish behaviour.
