The Inheritance: Pat is cut from The Deceased's will

Category: News Release

Professional gamer Zara and chess teacher Pat were cut from The Deceased’s will in a double elimination on The Inheritance. The decision was made by Tia, who said: “We clearly have some weak candidates on our team and the ones at the bottom, like Zara, like Pat, they’re kind of slowing us down. So, the choice is very easy - goodbye ladies.”

Interview with Pat:

What were your first impressions of the game, the house, your fellow players, and The Executor?
My first impressions of the house were, my goodness, what a beautiful property. Even the drive up to the house was fantastic. Because we've been very fortunate, the weather's been great, so we've probably seen it in its full glory. Inside of the house is unbelievable. My sense of direction is abysmal, so I've no idea where I'm walking. Then I find out that the Executor is none other than Rob Rinder. I really love Rob Rinder. My daughter's a solicitor, so we've got something in common. I was really pleased. Then when I met the other contestants, I realised what an eclectic crew we all are. But that was good as well, because there were so many characters to find out about and to work through.

Did you have a strategy, and did you manage to stick to it?
I didn't have a firm strategy, simply because, as the game evolves, strategy evolves, plans evolve. I tackled everything as it came really. I have to say, because I think it's important to be truthful, I made a decision very early on that I wasn't going to play any personal games because I didn't like them. It could get nasty with some of them and I rose above it. I just stayed myself and thought whatever will be, will be.

So, tell us about those various requests and the challenges.
The requests were always more complicated than they first appear. I loved the farm request. I loved catching the chickens. I’ve never done it in my life before, so that was great. And well, when I found myself painting a portrait! Who would have thought? That was so good, but it was also intense. The majority of the requests, I've enjoyed, but I have found the physical side to them all more difficult. There's been a lot of physicality, throughout the games. So that's not been a good thing for me. When we did the glamping, I was out of my depth and I didn't think I was useful at all. The Deceased is a very devious, twisted person and she’s getting cheap labour!

How does it feel to be leaving now?
Obviously, mixed feelings. Part of me says it would have been nice to continue but the other part of me says it's going to be great to go home. I'm missing my family; I've not ever been away from them this long. Quite frankly, as the game progresses, I think the challenges will also be more difficult, and at 75 years of age, they will possibly be quite difficult for me in terms of the physicality of them. So, it's the right time. I've enjoyed everything I've done, but I think you have to know when it's time to say I'm coming home.

Who did you get along best with and who would you like to see do well?
The two people that I really got along with initially was James who didn't go very far at all, bless him, but I wish him all the luck in the world. The other one is Zara. She's like my daughter, and she didn't go very far, she's gone out with me. But Zara is one that I actually felt quite akin with for many reasons. Beyond that, Ferg, obviously, is in my age category. So, in terms of the characters I like, I liked those people and I was less fond of others. I would like to see Catherine go far because she's such a nice, down-to-earth person.

Do you have a standout highlight of the entire experience?
I've got two. One is chasing chickens, and the other one is finding out and discovering the painting of a face has no face, and I've got to paint it. I mean that in itself! I believe I’ve earned myself the nickname Pat-casso!
