Channel 4 commissions Frieda.TV to Cook up a Fortune

Category: News Release

Channel 4 have commissioned Frieda.TV to make a brand new 20-part series where the nation’s most passionate cooks get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to launch their own food brand to the British public.

Cooking Up A Fortune sees amateur foodies who dream of escaping the rat race and cooking for a living, create and sell their dishes to hundreds of real diners in a purpose-built food arena.

Each week the winning kitchen gets to launch their idea for a food business to paying customers, in one of Europe’s busiest food markets.

The 20-part stripped series is fronted by new talent Dominic Cools-Lartigue – the pioneer behind independent street food arenas who’s helped launch some of the UK’s biggest restaurant brands.

Creative Director of Frieda.TV Jon Lloyd said: “It’s been a joy to turn a traditional cookery competition on its head and create something that feels really different. Dom’s expertise and the genuine opportunity for winners to change their lives every single week, has led to incredibly high-quality food and a range of competitors that you wouldn’t normally see on TV.”

Channel 4 Head of Daytime David Sayer said: “There are a wealth of talented amateurs who just need a leg-up on to turn their passions into a profession and this show will give them that opportunity. Dom’s credentials mean he’s the perfect person to front the show and we hope he’ll develop into a regular face of 4.”
