Crossing the Bayuda Desert was an incredible experience.
The scenery was stunning; sand dunes, dark volcanic fields and sky blackening Haboobs. We met the occasional Bedouin tribesmen, drank water from life-saving wells and visited a Coptic monastery.
I even shared a bed with a viper!
Physically, it’s been the most challenging part of the expedition so far. Temperatures soared well over 40°C and we had limited supplies. Moez said it was his first ever summer crossing.
