Ingredients
100g all bran
150g sugar
100g golden raisins
100g currants
75g sultanas
300ml whole milk
85g self raising flour
15g dark malt flour
250g butter
50ml milk
Method
1. Put the bran, fruit and milk in a large bowl, leave for 1 hour
2. Add the flours and sugar. Mix with an electric whisk for 2-3 minutes on a low speed
3. Spoon into a greased lined 1lbs loaf tin
4. Bake at 180°c for about an hour
5. Cool for 10 minutes, then turn out
6. Whilst cooking whisk the butter and milk together for a full 5 minutes to create light whipped butter
7. Serve the bread warm, sliced with the butter and a cheeky spoonful of jam or Cheshire cheese
