What is #PurpleLightUp?

At Channel 4, we’re embracing the power of purple! This 3 December, we’re proud to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the worldwide #PurpleLightUp.

We’re encouraging you to wear purple on this day, and for businesses to use purple on their logos and websites (so, that’s E4 sorted... ), and to light up their offices in purple.

Created by PurpleSpace, the #PurpleLightUp day asks us all to celebrate the economic contributions made by disabled people and to rubbish the notion that anyone is a financial burden on society.

We're also encouraging businesses to help disabled people find careers they can thrive in. As a Disability Confident Leader, we're keen to help other employers make the most of the huge benefits that disabled colleagues can bring.

In the UK alone, one in seven of us live with disability, but half of this number are currently unemployed – a shocking waste of talent and potential.
