Biohacking is a Californian trend that combines technology with body modification – the idea is you don’t just wear or use technology, you actually have it surgically implanted in your body.

The people doing it see such hacking as enhancing their potential, no different from wearing a pair of glasses or a hearing aid. The things they are sticking in themselves are giving them a form of superpower. KG met a variety of ‘biohacked’ people from those with magnetic fingers to people who can sense electric fields – proper X-Men stuff.

Of course, as with any attempt to create superhumans, there are all sorts of ethical concerns – not least over the fact that much of the implantation surgery is done by untrained individuals on themselves! (Don’t be doing any of that kind of crazy Californian stuff will you).
