Category: Press PackSet in 2024, immediately after the end of season one, the team in the Malware Department at GCHQ come to terms with a massive Russian cyber-attack. But just as the British finally gain the upper hand, Danny and his team realise that Russia were not the real architects of the attack. They have a new adversary who is set to attack. And not only that, but the team realise that they have a mole in GCHQ.
Simon Pegg (Mission Impossible, Star Trek) returns as Danny Patrick, GCHQ’s Head of Operations and Siân Brooke (Blue Lights, Trying) will play Barbara Patrick, Danny’s wife, ex-MI5 and now an analyst at GCHQ. Their relationship forms the emotional backbone of the story as each contend with huge personal and professional conflicts which take them on a collision course.
Hannah Khalique-Brown returns as Saara Parvin, a brilliant young coder on placement at GCHQ. Alex Jennings (The Crown, This Is Going To Hurt) returns as Danny’s boss, David Neal, the Head of GCHQ. Danny Sapani plays Charlie Francis, GCHQ’s Head of Security and Danny’s childhood friend.
Ed Stoppard returns as Richard Marston, the newly elevated Foreign Secretary and a constant thorn in Danny’s side. And Chloe Pirrie (Under The Banner Of Heaven, The Queen’s Gambit) will play Lt Colonel Roz Cavendish, seconded by Marston to GCHQ in the newly created role of Director of Rapid Response, a move which Danny interprets as a threat to his authority.
The Undeclared War is a six-part cyber-thriller written by Colin Teevan (Das Boot, Rebellion) and all episodes directed by Paul McGuigan (Sherlock, Inside Man).
The series is produced by Emmy, Bafta and Golden Globe-winning Playground (All Creatures Great And Small, Wolf Hall), Stonehenge Films and Universal Global Television (The Siege, The Dream Lands), a division of Universal Studio Group. The series is executive produced by Playground’s Colin Callender, Daniel Gratton, and Noëlette Buckley, Stonehenge Films’ Peter Kosminsky, Colin Teevan, and Paul McGuigan. Caroline Levy produces. Peter Kosminsky and Colin Callender created the original series.

Episodes
Episode One - Danny is under huge pressure as he deals with the fallout of the Russian cyberattack. Saara discovers that there’s a mole in GCHQ. Meanwhile, Vadim is missing and in danger.
Episode Two - Vadim realises he must try to escape captivity in Shenzhen. Meanwhile, at GCHQ Danny and Roz clash over China, and Charlie is confident he has found the mole.
Episode Three – Barbara crosses paths with her ex-boyfriend, Nicky Chan, first in 2014 in Hong Kong on a ill-fated MI6 mission, and then again in 2022, when he reappears in London.
Episode Four – Danny becomes increasingly worried about Barbara’s erratic behaviour as Chinese malware causes havoc in British government departments. Meanwhile, Barbara tracks down Nicky.
Episode Five – Barbara comes under Charlie’s scrutiny as tragedy strikes GCHQ. Danny, Saara and Roz work together in an attempt to help Vadim escape. Danny makes an earth-shattering discovery.
Episode Six - Danny confronts Barbara and puts everything on the line in order to bring the truth to life. Roz and the team must race against the clock to find out what the malware is searching for.
